Drummers and Cancer? WTF? Spinal Tap?

Lets see Eric Carr of Kiss dies from it, Randy Castillio of Lite Ford,Ozzy,and Motley dies from it, and now Ricky Parent of Enuff fame has it and is in cemo? I might quit drumming! I am not rely trying to be funny but this is so Spinal Tap! Why are drummers dying from cancer at this alarming rate? [img]eek.gif[/img]

i have actually got some theories about that.

ALL of these drummers were in pretty great shape during thier hey days...

cancer is a result of overactive or over healthy cells in SOME individuals. maybe it came as a result of these peoples overactive lifestyles. drumming is an incredibly physical activity and is actually reccommended by some doctors in order to get a good workout.

other thoery, the bands they played for may have made them sleep closest the the bathroom on their tourbuses. you know some pretty big names out there just have no respect for their drummers, thus the close proximity to the bathroom on the bus may have exposed them to the chemicals found in there. those are just theories though.

regardless cancer is no laughing matter. i have seen too many friends, families and musical heros struck down by it. let's just wish all of the people out there with cancer well and hope that they find a cure QUICKLY.

Yes, Cancer sucks! No idea why there are so many drummers who get it. I hope it's just coincidence. Interesting theories though. Oh yeah, Castillo also drummed for The Motels. Great drummer, and by all acoounts, great guy!

You're not alone in noticing this very disturbing trend. A glaring omission from your list however is one of the greatest rock drummers ever: Mick Tucker.

I tend to agree with GnS's first theory, that the repetitive stress must cause some sort of change in the cells of the affected person.
